Hang on to your hats kids! This week begins with a bang! The chart below is the exact conjunction of Saturn and Pluto, which happens at high noon over Washington, DC. Restructuring is afoot: whether we like it or not. It's time to lay a firm foundation as what no longer serves us is falling away like a karmic rug being pulled out from under us individually and collectively. This is a power combination, the like of which has not been seen since the Rennaissance. The week starts with the powerful point of connection, but the themes will be active throughout most of 2020. 

We are being challenged to envision and create a new future: one more simple, more aligned with common values, and taking a rather revolutionary approach to the care of the natural world. What do we love? What gives us joy? What are our deepest dreams and visions? How can we be of service and find healing? Think on this, and you will be in harmony with the times.

Aries
As the week begins, you'll enjoy a certain amount of emotional and social harmony. Sunday and Monday are an ideal time for a romantic date.  A combination of internal frustration and lurking potential transformation in the face of offers and challenges to "get real" require you to muster more than your usual patience. This will be a year long challenge. 

Taurus
There can be issues Sunday and Monday over not feeling appreciated at home. This settles down midweek, Tuesday and Wednesday bring a helpful energy around children, romance, and creative projects. As an earth sign, you have the potential to be incredibly effective in these transformative times. 

Gemini
It's likely you will experience some pressure in the area of shared resources and finding ways to adopt the more practical approaches others may be forcing on you. In some ways, you can enjoy a ring side seat from the sidelines of the battle for transformation that is happening on your doorstep. Patience. 

Cancer
Your sensitive side is likely to feel harsh reality is pushing against you from all directions. The times demand courage, and a clear head. A certain amount of sardonic humor would not be out of line. Don't despair! When everything seems to be dog-piling against you, it's important to remember you are up to the challenges you face. 

Leo
You are likely to be feeling especially emotional as the week begins. With so much transformative energy in the mix, people can be unpredictable. Those born in July are likely to challenge others or be challenged by events that break up your usual routines. Virgo

Libra
You stand at a crossroads, where your default desires to make nice or include all options may not be the most effective strategy. While it's possible to feel quite discouraged, what you, or circumstances, cut back at this time will ultimately be for the best. This week, your challenge is to make a realistic analysis of what is working and what is better left behind. 

Scorpio
This week, you are in a unique position to finally make some practical and lasting adjustments in situations close to home that have not been to your liking. The more you communicate your needs and intentions, the better progress you will make. 

Sagittarius
Venus is in your sign right now, most particularly impacting those born November 28-December 2. Enjoy! This is an ideal week for a romantic date. Give yourself permission to be more vulnerable, rather than telling your sweetheart what is what. For all, it's an ideal time for getting out socially and sharing anything you consider fun. 

Capricorn
This is a lucky week for those born near the last days of December and first days of January. People will think highly of you and opportunities abound for you to make progress in any area of interest or concern. For all of you born this week, not only is the world and it's governing structures changing, you too are experiencing a powerful period where things are being restructured, ready or not. It's important not to see any limitations or power struggles you encounter as negative. 

Aquarius
Just so you know, the energies this year are going to become more and more positive when Jupiter enters your sign at the end of March. For now, if things continue to be a challenge, just remember there are brighter days just ahead. While you may not be particularly inclined to focus on practical things, right now you can make some serious and lasting changes in the way your life and relationships are structured. 

Pisces
This may be a time when you are imagining ambitious new directions for your life. You can create networks of people and identify practical ideas that support your long term success. Friends who share your interests will be especially helpful in pointing you in new directions. You can be an effective manager or team leader.

I am shocked to see my last column was written in the last week of October 2016. A year of caregiving for a mother with dementia, followed by a major heath incident with a two year recovery has brought me here: to offer you my first analysis in what may be the most intense week of the landmark year of 2020.

OVERVIEW

This week will see a conjunction of six planets in practical, ambitious, managerial Capricorn, including an exact conjunction of Saturn and Pluto. Saturn rules defining structure, setting limitations, and evolutionary change. Saturn in your chart is the bones of the body of your life. Pluto is power: think the power of a tsunami that rises up and washes away everything in its path. Pluto influencing your personal chart can see what is no longer necessary in your life be taken away, ready or not. Combine these two energies and you can expect major change both personally and around the world. Questions of how we govern ourselves are on the table. 

In the mix this week Mercury moves slowly from a conjunction Jupiter in (what else) Capricorn. This facilitates down to earth communication colored with a certain amount of expansiveness or even grandiosity. Opportunities do abound when ideas are shared. By Wednesday Mercury will conjunct the Sun. Things are moving fast, fast, fast. Ideas (not always well considered) are flying.  

Consider the first half of this week to be a prelude. The real party starts during Friday's Full Moon eclipse in Cancer. The Capricorn Sun ruling practical ambition, and how we govern ourselves faces a powerful Cancer Moon, ruling home, family, tribe, tradition, and that which makes us feel most safe and secure. This is likely to be a spark for events unfolding over the next week, and echoing again from late August through mid November 2020. The archetypes unfolding are awash in yin/yang, patriarchy/matriarchy dynamics. This configuration then supercharges the Saturn/Pluto promise of laying down the law in a transformational manner. 

(Uranus in Taurus Direct) And as if this all were not enough, a revolutionary energy that has been stalled since April 2019 is now awake and on the move. A generation of eco-warriors is being born. Original ideas for approaching and honoring nature in the mix. Our habits and values are being influenced by energy from the future. 

(Neptune in Pisces) The urge for dissipation/self-delusion and it's mirror image urge for spiritual experience is both strong and can be easily accessed: you only have to ask. Portals to the other side (whatever you determine that to be) are wide open. Those who find it in themselves to be selfless and compassionate are most closely aligned with the flow.

(Venus in Aquarius and Mars in Sagittarius) This will give some encouragement and inspiration to both Air (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius) and Fire (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius) sign natives.  Love takes a cooler more friendship oriented approach at the same time as many will feel the urge to express strong opinions, expand your horizons and do things in a big way.

THROUGH THE SIGNS

Aries

For many of you, this is a year of challenges that may be frustrating, as your natural tendency is to take charge will be limited and even thwarted in ways you may not see coming. Focus on what works. It's a good time to reach out to friends and spend more time with groups who share your interests. Physical activity will help you feel more satisfied and balanced. For those born before March 27, it's great week to expand your horizons: this could be educational or travel plans. It's a positive week to make contacts that support your career. Those born near April 13 are in the thick of it. The challenges you face can be building blocks or stumbling blocks. This is a crossroads period of your life. Some things will have to be surrendered, or they will be taken from you. Trust that any losses you experience now, are ultimately necessary for your highest good. 

Taurus

 As much as you tend to resist change, the dynamics of your world are shifting, particularly for those born on or near April 23. Challenges that first appeared in early 2019 return for reconsideration; this time events are likely to send you in a new direction. This is a beneficial week to make new friends and participate in groups who share your interests. This is a particularly lucky period for those born April 28-30 to create or take advantage of opportunities that come your way. Share your ideas with confidence. Those born in early April can speak your mind and feel you have been heard. Practical matters are your strong suit. Focus of building a firm foundation for your children or anything close to your heart. Heads up! if born near May 13. This is a profoundly positive period of your life. You have survived a great deal and now are in a position to take advantage of what you have learned. The habits and structures you establish now, coupled with a certain openness to unexpected turns of fortune, will go a long way to building a more satisfying future.  

Gemini

There is a lot going on, and it's not just in your imagination. You are likely to be more attuned to the feelings of others, which can work in your favor. Look for ways to be a helpful friend, or at very least, a good listener. Encounters with others can spark a burst of inspiration that makes this an ideal time for any fresh start. This can be an especially satisfying week for the May born. People around you will be supportive and your creative energies are strong. Get out and do more things with people you like. Emotions can be running high midweek. Some of you will experience challenges or pushback in the form of strong opinions from partners or concerning legal matters. Do your best to be more diplomatic and begin to understand an issue from another's perspective. One especial note for those born near June 8: you are experiencing a long period where things have been murky or felt particularly confusing. Self or outer deception is in the mix. Your judgement is not the best right now so don't make any major commitments concerning money, a group effort, or anything that seems too good to be true. Things will be muzzy for awhile so just be patient. 

Cancer

2020 is going to be one of those years you look back on and realize everything has changed. This is a world wide phenomena, but can impact Cancers personally. It's in your relationships that you will find a narrowing of choices and potential power plays. Ultimately it's less about being in charge and more about your ability to express love. Those born near June 30-July 1 are likely to be feeling particularly expansive. Go after what you want with confidence. Those born the first week of July can expect to be particularly busy. Good ideas are everywhere and your challenge will be to get what you want while at the same time being an effective team player. Those born near July 9 are likely to be particularly sensitive to subtile energies. Music, meditation, and time spent on or near water will be helpful. This is a long lasting influence so you will be wise to explore and embrace the gifts it brings. The Full Moon in your sign through Friday and Saturday can have you feeling especially emotional or self-protective. Take time to make a specific resolution about the coming year and post it where you can see it. Those born around July 15 are at the critical apex off all those planets in your opposite sign Capricorn. Power struggles and limitations are in the mix. It may help to understand this is a once in a lifetime period of challenge and you are truly at a crossroads. Things can feel incredibly discouraging, as your vital energy is at a low ebb at the same time events around you are totally in flux. Do not take the disappointments you face personally. This is not about a personal weakness or failure. Events and situations you encounter now are pruning back what is no longer necessary, and were written in the stars long ago. Leo

For once, you are not the star of the show, and it's likely a blessing in disguise. Unless you have other astrological markers (Moon, Ascendant, Saturn) putting skin in the game, you may be allowed a more serene week than most others. This puts you in a strong position to be encouraging and playful in environments where others may be stressed. The exception to this will be those born on or near July 26. Unexpected events or encounters can demand a less headstrong and more open to all possibilities approach. If you can do this, you will be rewarded. The July born can tap into an expansive and idealistic energy that makes this an ideal time for travel plans, social networking, and finding out more about cultures not your own. If you have a particular philosophy of life that works for you, share  This can be a particularly pleasant week for those born after August 17. You can be lucky in love or at very least will enjoy positive feedback from good friends. 

Virgo

It's your year! While there is so much stress and challenging transformation happening all around you, the energies of so many planets in Capricorn only serve to support your interests and give you openings for success. This week, Friday's eclipse and the exact conjunction of Saturn and Pluto make this a once in a lifetime point of potential creative power for those born around September 15 with planets near 22 degrees Virgo. It's time to cut out what isn't necessary and nurture the work that matters most. With only one exception, nearly every Virgo is benefiting. The August born are in a particular period of expansiveness and potential opportunity. Do your usual careful analysis, but by all means take action to put your ideas into motion. Those born August 26 will see some unexpected breakthroughs that may actually have been in the works for several months. The doors are opening at last! Libra

The mashup of planets in Capricorn brings most Librans to a challenging crossroads. Things are getting real now, your tendency to waffle between potential choices will be cut short by the demands of a reality that cannot be denied or avoided. This is not bad, this is a kind of gift that may not be comfortable going through, but at the end of the year, you will have been tested in a way that helps you know what is your firm foundation. Be cautious if born near October 1: your tendency to take on too much or make promises you can't deliver is strong. Pisces

You are in a strong position this year to create practical structures in support of your long term vision. Aries

Your biggest challenges may come from butting heads with superiors, often a result of conflicts in management style. Be especially adaptable if changes beyond your control set the agenda. This can be a very positive time to consult mentors or advisors over financial or legal matters. Take time to review family or partnership spending. This is a lucky time for work related travel or reaching out to a loved one far away. If writing or marketing, let others review your work and offer suggestions.

Taurus

Sunday’s New Moon brings a strong focus on relationships: particularly through partnerships, mentors, or over legal matters. Your best allies are people able to help you do necessary research or speak the truth, even when it’s difficult emotionally.  It’s especially important for the April born to be open to talking things out and exploring all sides of a question. A serious and cautious approach serves you well expanding your possibilities as a lover or in any negotiation concerning shared resources.  Those born near May 15 are in a strong position to translate practical ambitions into expanded possibilities for the future.  Teamwork on behalf of others can attract unexpected opportunities.

Gemini

Cancer

Sunday’s New Moon can be a very lucky day for you. The June born, especially have a real chance for a fresh start in any area close to your heart. This could be concerning a child, a sweetheart, a creative project or anything where doing the necessary research will win admiration and support. You have permission to have fun!
